Progress

From founding to fleets.

The milestones that took Luminous from a founding team in Boston to LUMI fleets on utility-scale solar power plants in the United States and Australia.

  1. Two LUMIs setting solar modules on tracker rows at Goulburn River Solar Farm, a crew member between them

Solar X deployment in New South Wales

Deployment announced with Solar X at one of the largest solar sites in New South Wales, the next step up in scale for LUMI fleets.

  2. A row of LUMIs on the manufacturing floor, with the Luminous banner behind them

A site complete, a production line live

Lancaster Solar Farm (106 MWp) reached mechanical completion with every solar module installed, and generation 1 of our US manufacturing line came online to build LUMI fleets at scale.

  3. Aerial view of LUMIs and a crew installing solar modules on a utility-scale solar power plant

    Expansion to Australia

Selected as the first recipient of ARENA's $100M Solar ScaleUp initiative. The award opened our second market, with LUMI fleets on utility-scale solar power plants in Victoria and New South Wales.

  4. The Nexamp pilot crew in hard hats gathered around a LUMI on site

    Partnership with Nexamp

Won InnovateMass with a project alongside Nexamp, the largest community solar IPP in the US. LUMI moved from proving itself to building with a major owner of solar assets.

  5. The first LUMI, an early prototype, holding a solar module in a Boston test space

    Luminous Robotics founded

Founded in Boston to take the heaviest, most repetitive work out of solar construction, starting with installing heavy solar modules.

ARENA Solar ScaleUp Challenge

Inaugural recipient, scaling for a solar future.

Luminous Robotics is piloting LUMI for solar module installation at two utility-scale solar power plants in New South Wales and Victoria, Culcairn and Goorambat East. The project supports ARENA's 30-30-30 vision for ultra low cost solar.

This project is the first awardee of the Solar ScaleUp Challenge, funded by the Australian Government through the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), PRO-2509.

Project targets against manual installation
6.2%Lower levelized cost of energy (LCOE), up to
3.5xInstallation efficiency
